My Sparkle, My Way: Autism & Acceptance

Written by a mother-daughter duo (Dr. Shirley Sims & Kali Gibbs), this heartwarming children’s book invites you into Kali’s bright and beautiful world.

Kali, an autistic child, experiences life in her own unique and magical way finding joy in moments others may overlook and reminding us all that different is truly beautiful.

I didn’t just write this book as an author—I wrote it as a mom.

I didn’t just write this book as an author—I wrote it as a mom.
When my daughter Kali was diagnosed with autism, I wanted to make sure she always felt seen, loved, and confident in who she is. I wanted her to grow up knowing that she didn’t need to change who she was to fit into the world—the world needed to learn to embrace her.

That’s when I realized something bigger…
There weren’t enough stories where children like Kali could truly see themselves in a positive and empowering way.
So I created one.
Because being different is not something to fix—it’s something to celebrate.

What started as a personal mission to support my daughter has grown into a purpose-driven community supporting families everywhere through AuSome Pals.
